Reserva Script: Classic Calligraphy Meets Sharp Modern Cuts
Fashion brand Reserva has always made an impression with a visual identity blending warm Brazilian flavor with a free-spirited, rebellious edge. Even with a solid type lineup featuring Reserva Sans, Reserva Serif, and Reserva Display, something tactile and intimate was still missing. To fill that gap, designers Mariana Navarro and Rodrigo Saiani at Plau Design teamed up to craft Reserva Script.
The design team kicked off the process completely by hand, sketching with pointed pens on grid paper before digitizing the letterforms. While the Copperplate-inspired curves bring classic elegance, Plau gave it a fresh twist with clean, sharp terminal cuts. This architectural contrast keeps the typeface grounded without feeling overly formal or vintage.
Reserva Script comes in five weights: Light, Regular, Semibold, Bold, and Black. Built with a fixed 30-degree italic slant and pronounced expansion contrast, the strokes swell on downstrokes and narrow to delicate hairlines at the connections. Every letterform’s proportions are finely tuned for visual balance—uppercase letters feature sweeping swashes on characters like R and S, while lowercase forms focus on rhythm and smooth connections. The complete character set includes full diacritics, ligatures, and tabular figures, making brand sync seamless across digital channels and physical packaging alike.
Beyond static type specimens, the typeface comes alive through kinetic motion and video showcases. In real-world applications, Reserva Script demonstrates remarkable versatility across woven labels, apparel embroidery, screen-printed posters, and retail boxes. The Black weight brings bold energy to media headlines, while Light offers an airy, delicate feel for lookbooks.

Reserva Script: Khi nét chữ viết tay cổ điển kết hợp cùng những đường cắt sắc lẹm
Thương hiệu thời trang Reserva vốn gây ấn tượng với tiếng nói thị giác hòa trộn giữa sự ấm áp của Brazil và tinh thần nổi loạn, phóng khoáng. Dù đã sở hữu hệ thống font tương đối hoàn chỉnh gồm Reserva Sans, Reserva Serif và Reserva Display, họ vẫn cảm thấy thiếu đi một chút cảm xúc mộc mạc và gần gũi. Để lấp đầy khoảng trống đó, hai nhà thiết kế Mariana Navarro và Rodrigo Saiani tại Plau Design đã cùng sáng tạo nên bộ font Reserva Script.
Đội ngũ thiết kế bắt đầu quá trình sáng tác hoàn toàn thủ công bằng các bản phác thảo dùng bút ngòi nhọn (pointed-pen) trên giấy kẻ ô trước khi đưa lên máy tính số hóa. Những đường uốn lượn lấy cảm hứng từ phong cách Copperplate tạo nên vẻ thanh lịch cổ điển, nhưng Plau đã khéo léo tạo nét phá cách bằng những đường cắt thẳng, gọn gàng ở phần cuối nét chữ (terminals). Chính sự tương phản mang tính kiến trúc này đã giúp bộ chữ không bị sa vào tính trang trọng hay hoài cổ quá mức.
Reserva Script được phát triển với 5 độ dày (weight): Light, Regular, Semibold, Bold và Black. Bộ chữ sở hữu độ nghiêng 30 độ (italic slant) cố định cùng độ tương phản nét (expansion contrast) rõ rệt – phình to ở các nét kéo xuống và thu hẹp thành các đường tóc (hairline) mảnh khi nối chữ. Tỷ lệ từng ký tự được tinh chỉnh kỹ lưỡng để đảm bảo độ cân bằng thị giác: chữ hoa sở hữu các nét uốn bay bổng (swash) như ở chữ R hay S, trong khi chữ thường tập trung vào nhịp điệu và điểm nối để các từ liên kết mượt mà mà không dính nét. Bộ ký tự hoàn chỉnh tích hợp đầy đủ dấu diacritics, ligature và chữ số dạng tabular figures, giúp thương hiệu dễ dàng đồng bộ trên cả nền tảng số lẫn bao bì vật lý.
Bên cạnh các bản specimen dạng tĩnh, bộ chữ còn xuất hiện sinh động trong các hiệu ứng chuyển động (kinetic motion) và video trình diễn. Trong ứng dụng thực tế, Reserva Script thể hiện sự linh hoạt trên nhãn mác dệt, chi tiết thêu trên quần áo, poster in lưới và hộp đóng gói bán lẻ. Phiên bản Black mang lại sự táo bạo cho các tiêu đề truyền thông, trong khi bản Light lại tạo cảm giác thanh thoát cho các ấn phẩm lookbook.
