Still Magazine Issue 00 by Florian Cornut: Editorial Design for Lisbon Coffee Culture
There is a unique charm to a print publication that embraces a rhythmic pace and creates a restful breath of fresh air amidst the rush of modern life. Still Magazine Issue 00 is a 200-page publication crafted by Still Studio, with creative and art direction led by Florian Cornut of Habillage Graphique. Steering clear of standard commercial travel guides or coffee shop directories, this project offers a thoughtful look at Lisbon through its street architecture, independent coffee spaces, and the people breathing life into the local community. The content weaves seamlessly between interviews, essays, photography, and illustration, balancing technical agronomy insights with personal memoirs under a beautifully cohesive visual layout.
The layout relies on a flexible, multi-column Swiss grid system, striking a sweet balance between asymmetrical text boxes and panoramic photography. The typography builds a gentle conversation between crisp modern precision and warm, handcrafted character. Florian Cornut selected TypeType’s TT Commons Pro as the primary typeface for body text and captions, pairing it with Alga from Nova Type Foundry for titles and pull quotes—adding an organic flair that echoes the botanical origins of coffee beans. Articles by industry experts like Scott Rao and Maxwell Colonna-Dashwood feature dynamic column widths, making long-form reads feel fresh and effortless.
Physical production is just as thoughtful, showcasing meticulous material choices. Printed in France by Manufacture d’Histoires Deux-Ponts, the cover features Fedrigoni’s 300g Arena Rough Natural paper, anchored by a sun-soaked architectural image from photographer Ly Takai. Inside, all 200 pages are printed on 120g Munken Pure Rough—an unvarnished woodfree paper that delivers a tactile feel, great ink absorption, and just the right amount of flexibility when turning pages. Plus, lay-flat binding allows full-bleed double-page spreads to open up completely.

Một ấn phẩm in ấn hướng tới sự nhịp nhàng và không gian thư thái giữa nhịp sống hiện đại luôn mang lại sức hút rất riêng. Still Magazine Issue 00 là cuốn tạp chí dày 200 trang do Still Studio sản xuất, với định hướng nghệ thuật và sáng tạo từ Florian Cornut thuộc Habillage Graphique. Thay vì đi theo hướng cẩm nang du lịch hay giới thiệu quán cà phê thương mại thông thường, dự án chọn nhìn ngắm thủ đô Lisbon qua những hình khối kiến trúc đường phố, các không gian cà phê độc lập và những con người đang thổi hồn vào cộng đồng nơi đây. Nội dung được đan xen tự nhiên giữa phỏng vấn, luận văn, nhiếp ảnh và minh họa, xử lý kiến thức nông học lẫn ký sự cá nhân với góc nhìn thị giác đồng đều.

Florian Cornut chọn TT Commons Pro từ TypeType làm font chữ chủ đạo cho các đoạn văn bản và chú thích, kết hợp cùng font Alga từ Nova Type Foundry cho phần tiêu đề và trích dẫn để tạo điểm nhấn mang chút hơi hướng hữu cơ, gợi nhớ đến nguồn gốc thực vật của hạt cà phê. Các bài viết từ những chuyên gia như Scott Rao hay Maxwell Colonna-Dashwood được dàn trang với độ rộng cột thay đổi linh hoạt, giúp trải nghiệm đọc bài dài không bị rập khuôn.
Khâu sản xuất thực tế cũng thể hiện sự tỉ mỉ trong lựa chọn chất liệu. Tạp chí được in tại Pháp bởi Manufacture d’Histoires Deux-Ponts. Phần bìa sử dụng giấy Arena Rough Natural 300g của Fedrigoni, nổi bật với bức ảnh kiến trúc rợp ánh sáng tự nhiên của nhiếp ảnh gia Ly Takai. Toàn bộ 200 trang ruột bên trong được in trên giấy Munken Pure Rough 120g – dòng giấy unvarnished woodfree mang lại cảm giác chạm chân thực, độ bám mực tốt và độ dẻo vừa phải khi lật trang. Cùng với đó, kỹ thuật đóng sổ gáy phẳng (lay-flat binding) giúp dễ dàng mở rộng trọn vẹn các trang đôi tràn viền.
