The code A113 has appeared consistently from Toy Story (1995) all the way to the studio’s latest releases. In reality, it’s a nod to Classroom A113 at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), where veteran directors and animators like Brad Bird, John Lasseter, and Pete Docter studied graphic design and animation.
Artists love sneaking this detail into backgrounds like familiar “graffiti,” dropping it onto license plates, signs, or spoken dialogue. Sometimes the code even gets a creative encoded twist. In Elemental, a sign displaying “A H Al” is actually another way of writing A113, since Hydrogen has 1 proton and Aluminum has an atomic number of 13. In Onward, police officers speak the code directly in their dialogue.
Beyond Pixar, A113 has popped up in various animated projects from Disney, Marvel, Warner Bros. Animation, and even The Simpsons Movie.
The newly released video lists sightings up through Inside Out 2 (2024), though it doesn’t include every single one, missing films like Soul, Lightyear, and Monsters, Inc.. This iconic tradition will continue to appear in upcoming projects like Toy Story 5 and Hoppers.

Thực chất, đây là ký hiệu tri ân phòng học số A113 tại Viện Nghệ thuật California (CalArts), nơi nhiều đạo diễn và animator kỳ cựu như Brad Bird, John Lasseter hay Pete Docter từng theo học ngành thiết kế đồ họa và hoạt hình.
