The story follows Moo Moo, a cow who is completely over her quiet, old-school farm life. When a super high-tech, modern farm pops up right across the road, Moo Moo makes a bold escape in search of something better. Naturally, reality hits hard, kicking off a witty, satirical story about freedom, the classic “grass is always greener” trap, and the gap between dreams and reality.
What truly sets this project apart is its striking art style. Despite being built entirely in 3D, creators Jonathan Lally, Elio Molinaro, and Nicolás Acevedo Ferraté managed to flawlessly capture the tactile feel of claymation—channeling the iconic aesthetic of legendary animation studio Aardman.
Along with the Gold for “Cows,” the Silver Medal went to “The Panic Inside” by German director Matthias Strasser, while Bronze was awarded to “Gauze” from Gobelins school in France. With these major wins, all three films have officially secured their spots to compete for the Best Animated Short Film category at the 99th Academy Awards!

Cốt chuyện của “Cows” xoay quanh Moo Moo – cô bò đã quá chán ngán cuộc sống êm đềm ở trang trại truyền thống. Khi một trang trại hiện đại, đầy tính công nghệ mọc lên ngay bên kia đường, Moo Moo quyết định bứt phá trốn sang với hy vọng tìm kiếm một cuộc sống tốt đẹp hơn. Thế nhưng, thực tế lại chẳng hề màu hồng như mong đợi, mở ra một hành trình đầy châm biếm về sự tự do, ảo tưởng “cỏ nhà láng giềng luôn xanh hơn” và khoảng cách giữa ước mơ với thực tại.
Điểm ấn tượng nhất của dự án nằm ở phong cách nghệ thuật độc đáo: Dù dựng hoàn toàn bằng đồ họa 3D trên máy tính, bộ ba tác giả Jonathan Lally, Elio Molinaro và Nicolás Acevedo Ferraté đã tái hiện cực kỳ chân thực hiệu ứng stop-motion đất sét (claymation), mang đậm dấu ấn đặc trưng của hãng hoạt hình Aardman danh tiếng.
