Dalziel & Pow Crafts Linocut Visual Identity for Crisis Campaign

Dalziel & Pow’s Handcrafted Identity for “Create for Crisis” London-based design studio Dalziel & Pow recently teamed up with UK homelessness charity Crisis to revamp their “Create for Crisis” campaign. Timed for Secondhand September, the “UNSOLD. RETOLD.” initiative brought 12 independent designers together at a Canning Town warehouse to upcycle unsold donated clothing. Using creative techniques like tailoring, weaving, screen printing, and patchwork, they turned forgotten garments into stunning, one-of-a-kind fashion pieces.

To match that tactile, handmade spirit, Dalziel & Pow skipped clean computer graphics altogether. Instead, they got hands-on, carving the campaign’s custom wordmark directly into linoleum blocks using chisels and printing with bold black ink.

A Raw Brand Identity Rooted in Linocut Craft The main logo blends two distinct visual elements. The words “Create for” showcase blocky, hand-carved display lettering with deliciously uneven, rough edges that shout pure artisan flair. Right beside it sits the iconic red Crisis square logo, cleverly modified with a diagonal cut peeling back the top edge to mimic the action of tailor’s scissors slicing through fabric.

The visual identity expands with three bespoke lino-printed graphic symbols: a pair of fabric shears, a bundle of sewing and safety pins, and a recycling arrow loop wrapping around a four-hole button.

Bringing the Craft Experience to Retail Stores This fresh, tactile identity is live across 16 Crisis retail stores in London. Bold, deep-red window posters featuring the headline “UNSOLD. RETOLD.” set the stage alongside designer portraits and upcycled garments on mannequins. Dalziel & Pow also crafted 24 custom storyboards highlighting featured makers like LUEDER, Olli Hull, and Ashley Knight, pairing handwritten typography with real fabric swatches and early design sketches.

In-store hang tags clearly lay out the impact: 50% of sales directly support Crisis’s mission to end homelessness, and 50% goes right back to the independent designers. Hand-stitched labels and raw corrugated cardboard displays complete the warm, craft-driven retail atmosphere.

Dalziel & Pow Và Bộ Nhận Diện Thủ Công Cho Dự Án Create For Crisis
